Hi, I’m Steve, the owner and skipper of Intention. I’ve been sailing since I was a child all over the world. I’d love to take you on a custom-tailored sailing vacation in the beautiful Dodecanese islands that you’ll never forget.

SAILING INTENTION

Intention is a 16-meter (53 foot) ketch. She is an Amel Super Maramu, built for maximum comfort with minimal crew.. The Super Maramu is a world-renowned luxury sailing yacht with all of the amenities including two full-sized heads (bathrooms) with comfortable showers, a full-sized galley (kitchen), air-conditioning and even a washing machine. Steve chose this vessel because of its spaciousness and comfort. He knows that you will love being aboard.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

I offer custom-tailored, skippered charters in the Dodecanese Islands of one to ten days duration. I will help you provision for your food and supplies for your trip. You can prepare meals aboard in our complete galley or you can enjoy meals in the local restaurants in almost every port we stay in.

There are no passengers on our charters — everyone is crew! That means helping to keep the boat shipshape, cooking and helping as needed. If you are looking for a charter where you will be served, this is not the charter for you.

Intention sleeps six people in individual beds. There are two full staterooms with two single beds or a double bed and also a single bed in each stateroom. There are two single bunks in half-staterooms amidships. There is a comfortably large head forward and aft. Each has a shower and sink.

The price ranges for private yacht charters can vary depending on the duration of your trip. One week charters are €7,000 and ten day charters are €9,000. Price includes all marina fees and fuel costs. Price does not include meals or on-shore entertainment, however, the first day’s meals and drinks are complimentary of the captain.

There’s a lot to do onboard when we are not underway. In addition to listening to our great music system and enjoying the ‘crash pads’ on deck (perfect for reading or just hanging out), there is beautiful swimming almost everywhere! When you’ve had enough of just relaxing, take the dinghy and go cave exploring! Or, take the two  bicycles we have onboard;  perfect for exploring the local town and sites ashore. Or get your exercise on our  stand-up paddleboard (SUP) or wind-surfer.

No, you don’t be an experienced sailor, but everyone can get involved in sailing Intention. However, you should be comfortable with being on a boat and be able to follow the captain’s instructions. The captain is more than happy to let you do as much of the sailing as you would like. And, if you would like some lessons, Steve is a certified instructor and loves teaching.

You need to bring whatever seasickness remedy you prefer as we can not provide any medications. Often, people who feel a little queasy on the first day find that it passes by the second day, once they’ve got their “sea legs”.

Greece is warm and sunny in the summer. Be prepared for some hot weather, but not so hot that you can’t enjoy a nice walk ashore.  The water is also warm, perfect for swimming in clear turquoise waters. We will visit mostly small harbors with only a couple of restaurants. Some are only accessable by boat. We will usually eat dinners in the local Taberna restaurant close to shore. There are many things to see everywhere we go, from castles to caves, from villages with shopping to mountains with amazing views.

Generally, you will fly to Athens and then transfer to a flight to one of the Islands in the Dodecanese to meet up with the Intention. The Captain will help you with travel planning once we establish the specifics of your trip. The most common airports are Samos (SMI), Leros (LRS), Kos (KOS) or Rhodes (RHO). There are some direct flights from mainland Europe to KOS and Rhodes. The best way to find good flights is with an online booking service like kayak.com or booking.com or many other flight searching sights. There are taxis and buses from the airport to the Marinas.

The ferry system in Greece is renowned. They go to every island and are very reasonable. They do take longer, but they are cheaper. You may want to take a look at the ferries from Athens to your embarcation point. Ferries in Greece

The next step is to call Steve so that he can answer all of your questions and establish a time for your trip. Once you have decided upon a date, Steve will develop a custom route for you. Once you agree to the details, there is a deposit to hold your reservation.
